Project Healing Waters Strives to effectively serve the deserving particpants, who have made great sacrifices in the service of our Nation. |
| Project Healing Waters offers wounded military personnel opportunities to learn, or enhance, fly fishing and fly tying skills, and to use and enjoy those skills on fishing outings. The Project provides basic fly fishing, fly casting and fly tying clinics and classes for the wounded personnel ranging from beginners to those with prior fishing experience who are adapting their skills to their new abilities. All services and activities of the Project are provided to the participants at no cost. Fly fishing and tying equipment is provided to the project participants, including gear that accommodates their special needs. The Projects educational and training activities are designed to ignite and rekindle the participants enthusiasm and appreciation for fishing outings. |
Our first official project was on January 19, 2008 at Bass Pro Shop. We taught a fly tying class to our first group of Veterans. The veterans had a great time and are looking forward to the next class. Our second class was on February 16th. The vets returned with their fly kits and tied jigs, eggs and soft Hackles. Our casting class will be on April 8th at Bass Pro Shop. Volunteers are needed to help with this class. We are supply these men with rods, reels & fly tying kits.
