Project 31 Miles
The Little Red Action team has commissioned a study of the Little Red Watershed by Layher BioLogic RTEC, a firm out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  This study of the Little Red Watershed that will be entitled "Project 31 Miles".  Using GPS coordinates, the study will map out problem areas and make recommendations for remedies.  This project's goals are as follows:

Assess entire trout habitat within watershed

The lower Little Red River watershed extends from Greers Ferry Dam to the White River. The river itself is 81 miles long
and, including its tributaries, drains 493,000 acres. The watershed covers parts of Cleburne, White and Independence Counties and consists of crop, pasture, forest, recreational and residential acreage.
The Arkansas Game & Fish as well as the Corps of Engineers recognizes the first 31 miles from the Greers Ferry Dam to the 305 bridge as ‘trout habitat’.  These waters are our first target area for watershed assessment and prioritization of our improvement efforts.

>Identify focus areas for trout habitat improvement
>Prioritize focus areas for trout habitat improvement

Considerations:
>Habitat improvement projects
>J-vane installation
>Bank stabilization
>Sedimentation runoff
>Best practice management
>Education / workshops
>River Clean-ups
>Water Monitoring activities
