I would like to welcome you to the Delta Chapter of Trout Unlimited.  The Delta Chapter is one of the latest editions to the Trout Unlimited family.  Although the Delta Chapter is located in Memphis, Tennessee, we were formed to serve the Trout Unlimited members in the West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and East Arkansas tri-state area.  Our mission is to conserve, protect and restore our area's cold water fisheries and their environments. Along with our sister chapters in Arkansas and Tennessee, our goal is to help conduct habitat improvement projects, stream clean-ups, and educational programs among other activities. We strive to educate the next generation about the importance of preserving clean water and wild trout. While engaged in conservation efforts, we intend to have a lot of fun, whether at monthly meetings, chapter fly fishing trips, or stream projects.

When I think about fly fishing and the its streams, I always come back to "Testament of a Fisherman" by Robert Travers.  It explains, more eloquently than I ever could, why I became involved with fly fishing and Trout Unlimited.

I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly; because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties, and assorted social posturing I thus escape; because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience; because I suspect that men are going along this way for the last time, and I for one don't want to waste the trip; because mercifully there are no telephones on trout waters; because only in the woods can I find solitude without loneliness; because bourbon out of an old tin cup always tastes better out there; because maybe one day I will catch a mermaid; and, finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly so much fun.   ---------      Robert Travers

I hope you will take a moment to look through our web site.  The Delta Chapter of Trout Unlimited is constantly working on some activity.  We have Project Healing Waters; an introduction or reintroduction of our disabled veterans to fly fishing.  We have cleanups and fishing with our sister chapter on the Little Red River.  We have outings for potential new fishermen and their families.  In short, there is a project available for anyone that wants to be involved in our TU chapter.  If you or any of your friends would like to be more involved in fly fishing and conservation, I would encourage you to contact one or our officers or attend our next meeting.

  Respectfully,
